Behind the Scenes:
Ever wonder how an artist can take a blank canvas and turn it into something magical. This page shows some of my pieces in progress.
Below is a breakdown of the process behind the painting, The Walk Before Me.
Since acrylic paints dry so fast it is impossible to come back hours or even minutes later and make changes.....so.... paintings progress layer upon layer starting with the background and ending with the foreground. Always light and shadows give depth to the one dimensional canvas

Behind the Scenes of Roosterfish:
This Personal favorite is a composite of two photos. Most often my work begins with sketches and these progressive images show how the painting came together. I wanted to capture the power of the ocean surf and the intensity of the human interaction. The crashing of the waves, the smell of the saltwater, and the very real concern of being washed out to see all are part of this painting for me. Also one roosterfish was caught! ps... never turn your back on the ocean.
